Ice Carving Competition at The Shops at Yale, 12:00-4:00pm, Saturday, December 9 at 56 Broadway, across from Apple, J.Crew and Urban Outfitters.

 

Watch as 6 professional ice carvers each transform 900lbs of ice into a spectacular sculpture in only 4 hours. Great photo opportunities with the ice sculptures after the event.

 

Internationally recognized, award-winning sculptor Bill Covitz from Ice Matters in Cheshire, CT will be on-site competing for the grand prize. See some of Bill’s work here; http://icematters.net/991027.html 

 

Hot cocoa and other specialty drinks are available at Maison Mathis and Blue State Coffee, both cafés are only steps away from the event. The Crepes Choupette cart will be on-site selling hot, fresh, made-to-order crepes. Enjoy live music and enter The Shops at Yale raffle to win gift cards and other prizes.

 

Live Music Schedule:

12:00 – 12:30, Whiffenpoofs – the world’s oldest and best known collegiate a cappella group.

12:30 – 1:00, Yale Alley Cats – world-renowned all-men a cappella singing group, making music around the world since 1943.

1:00 – 1:30, Guilford High School’s Voices – local singing group composed of students of all grades.

1:30 – 2:00, Out of the Blue – Yale University’s premier contemporary a cappella group.

2:00 – 2:20, The Elm City Four – classic barbershop quartet.

3:00 – 4:00, Connecticut Yuletide Carolers – traditionally garbed Victorian Carolers will fill the winter air with the bright sounds of the season, bringing holiday cheer to young and old alike.

4:00 – 5:00 – stroll the Broadway District and enjoy of great holiday shopping at Apple, J.Crew, Patagonia New Haven, Barbour, Lou Lou and more, then head over to the Chapel Street Historic District where you’ll find one-of-a-kind gifts at Wave Gallery, dwell New Haven and Derek Simpson Goldsmith. 5:00-7:00, Laser Light Show – holiday graphics projected onto area buildings choreographed to music.

 

Free event parking at the 150 York Street Garage, 11:00am-7:00pm. Simply bring your garage parking ticket to The Shops at Yale tent for a validation during the event.
