CONNECTICUT OPEN 2017
The Connecticut Open is owned by the State of Connecticut and is a not-for-profit charitable organization that leverages the excitement of world-class women’s tennis to benefit the community and maximize support for women’s, youth and Military causes in Connecticut.

Come hungry, because the Connecticut Open features a smorgasbord of local favorites and timeless staples. Menu options include hot dogs, hamburgers, salads and chicken sandwiches just to name a few.
Enjoy the best of local food trucks with choices like gourmet grilled cheese, pizza and baked potatos. For your convenience, picnic tables with umbrellas are located in the food court and other areas of the site.
In addition to a full slate of incredible tennis, there are plenty of activities, special events and theme nights to make each day at the tournament a blast. Check out ShopRite Kids Day, Opening Night Ceremony presented by Yale University, Girls Day Out featuring the COURTGIRL Lifestyle Experience, Autism Awareness Day, United Technologies Military Appreciation Day and more! A Raft of Wings: The NMS Concert for Human Rights

Co-presented by Pete DiGennaro and Dr. Jennifer Klein, this concert celebrates the power of cultural practices to overcome fear, unveil truth, and liberate hope. Artists from the NMS faculty, from the Hartford / New Haven Arts Communities and from Cape Verde and Tanzania will perform (via Skype) separately and together, to honor our shared humanity. Amnesty International, Nasty Women New Haven, NYU’s Department of Arts Politics and IRIS (Integrated Refugee and Immigration Services) will be on hand to share their work and opportunities with everyone. We look forward to seeing you!

Neighborhood Music School (NMS) is the largest non-profit community arts organization in Connecticut. Founded in 1911 as part of the settlement house movement serving new immigrants to New Haven and now serving nearly 3,000 students from 80-plus cities and towns annually, NMS continues its mission to create community, spark potential and share joy through the arts. NMS students, ranging in age from toddlers to seniors in their 90s, study music, dance and drama and participate in over 100 weekly ensembles. NMS offers individual and group instruction on 30-plus instruments and presents more than 250 performances and events each year. NMS also houses an arts-integrated preschool and toddler program, an After School Arts Academy and several summer programs. In addition, NMS provides over $275,000 in financial aid and tuition support for 550 students each year.
NMS programs are made possible with support from the National Endowment for the Arts, the Connecticut Department of Economic & Community Development – Office of the Arts and The Community Foundation for Greater New Haven, along with many other generous foundations and individuals.
Broadway-Chapel Food Tour

Combining some of New Haven’s best restaurant tastings with a fun shopping spree, the Broadway-Chapel Food Tour demonstrates downtown’s amazing walkability within the splendid architecture and history of Yale University. On this tour we visit Tomatillo Taco Joint for chips, salsa & limonada and Yorkside Pizza & Restaurant for Greek specialties, pizza & wine, followed by a 20 minute shopping spree in the Broadway District at stores like J.Crew, Urban Outfitters, Patagonia, Trailblazer, Apple, Barbour and Origins. We continue our food trail with Crepes Choupette for a crepe and galette tasting, Turkish meze and tea at Midpoint Istanbul and duck quesadilla & caipirinhas at Pacifico. We end the tour with another shopping experience of the Chapel Street merchants including Wave Gallery, idiom Boutique, L’Occitane en Provence and Raggs for Men & Women, finishing our day with desert at the famed Anchor Spa.
