Basta Trattoria is Located in the heart of New Haven’s Chapel Street shopping and entertainment district, just across from Yale Old Campus, steps away from the British Art Museum and the Yale Art Gallery, Basta offers an intimate dining experience. Chef Eduardo Pena began his professional culinary pursuit under the mentorship of Frank Criscuolo, the founder of their cherished trattoria. Twelve years later, Chef Eduardo took ownership of Basta’s sweet little place, along with Nino Ribeiro, who runs the front of the house and facilitates every detail for private parties and celebrations for every occasion.
Basta’s exquisite traditional Italian cuisine with a modern twist, favors fresh locally produced ingredients and sustainable foods from the region. Basta has been recognized with numerous praises over the years, including Connecticut Magazine’s “Best Of” award for the ever-famous meatballs.
All of the food at Basta Trattoria is cooked fresh to order. They take freshness very seriously, and promise that you’ll notice the difference.
Basta seats up to 35 guests in the cozy, intimate dining room. They welcome private events and will soon be providing off-site catering.
Dinner is served 7 days a week and lunches on Saturdays and Sundays. Join them on Monday evenings for a seasonal prix fixe menu and on Wednesdays for their half-price wine list. Soon, we’ll be announcing an exciting after-theater menu of assorted Basta tapas, desserts, wines, coffees and cappuccinos.
We look forward to you joining them and supporting their mission of bringing delicious, Italian foods and wines to this sweet little place. They hope you’ll enjoy it and want to come back often. Grazie Mille.
