Eyewear chain Warby Parker leases historic Yale-area storefront

Upscale eyewear retailer Warby Parker has leased a historic building near the Yale campus and will open a store later this year, university officials said Wednesday.

A century-old brick structure at 268 York St. at the corner of Broadway will house the new store, the chain’s fourth in the state. It also has locations in Farmington, Norwalk and Greenwich.

David DelVecchio, director of real estate asset management at Yale, said, “We are excited to announce Warby Parker’s plans to open one of their latest retail locations.”

According to job listings on the Warby Parker website, the New Haven store will open in the winter.
