Ice Carving Competition & A Cappella Concert
12:00-4:00pm

6 professional ice carvers will each transform 900lbs of ice into a spectacular sculpture in only 4 hours. Great photo opportunities with the sculptures after the event. FREE Downtown Horse & Carriage Rides. You’ll also be treated to performances by several accomplished A Cappella groups including, The Yale Alley Cats, SCSU’s NOTEorious (Southern Connecticut State University), The New Blue, Proof of the Pudding, Yale Women’s Slavic Chorus, Out of the Blue, Redhot & Blue and The Yale Spizzwinks(?),The Legends A Cappella (Quinnipiac University) and more! Free and open to the public. Plus, free parking is available to the first 200 cars at the 150 York Street Garage. Hot Cocoa Contest, 12:00-3:00pm, Saturday, December 7

A hot cocoa contest between top restaurants in New Haven will be taking place from 12:00-3:00pm, while supplies last. Stops will be located inside retailers on Broadway and winners will be chosen by a people’s choice voting system. The hot cocoa contest is free to participate. Voting cards will be available at The Shops at Yale table on Broadway Island.

 

Ice Carving Demonstrations, 1:00-3:00pm

In front of Neville Wisdom Fashions and WAVE Gallery (1046 Chapel Street.) Free and open to the public. 1:00-3:00pm.

A Taste of Chapel, 4:30-7:00pm

Join us this holiday season for a series of three complimentary wine and food pairings from popular restaurants in the Chapel Street Historic District on Thursdays, December 5th, 12th and 19th from 4:30-7:00pm.

 

A Taste of Chapel series will showcase New Haven’s independently-owned retailers and restaurants, and are free and open to the public. Exclusive shopping offers in the Chapel Street Historic District will be available during each event – this is a perfect opportunity to get a great deal on a unique holiday gift.

Storytelling with Santa, 1:00-3:00pm

Santa will visit The Shops at Yale and read stories to children and take photos with families from 1:00-3:00pm. Free and open to the public. Snacks will be provided.
Saturdays: Nov. 30, Dec. 7, 14 and 21 at The Yale Bookstore, 77 Broadway. Snacks provided by Katalina’s Bakery!
Sundays: Dec. 1 and 22 at Willoughby’s Coffee & Tea, 194 York Street.
