Willoughby’s Coffee & Tea is a local specialty coffee roaster that began in New Haven in 1985. The company roasts some of the most highly regarded, freshest coffees available and has attained a national reputation for quality. Willoughby’s operates four retail locations, two of which are in New Haven. One is on the corner of Church & Grove, the other in the Yale Architecture Building on York Street near Chapel. Coffee is roasted at their plant located in Branford and quickly delivered to each store.
In addition to selling their own freshly roasted coffee beans, the stores also offer an assortment of brewed coffee and espresso beverages, baked goods, loose and brewed tea, and many coffee and tea makers and related accessories. Many of the coffees they roast are directly traded and they support initiatives that reward quality growers.
Willoughby’s has won the New Haven Advocate’s Reader Poll for many years in the categories of Best Place to Buy Coffee Beans, Best Coffee House, and Best Place to Buy Loose Tea. They have an active mail order division which serves customers in all fifty states and ships to many international destinations. They also sell coffee wholesale to a wide range of restaurants, coffee business and other venues who place a value on top quality, freshly roasted coffee.
