Atticus Bookstore Cafe is known for their delicious sandwiches and wide selection of books, making it a local favorite. Famous for their soups and breads, a stop here is a must.
Atticus has been an independent New Haven institution since 1975. Having originally started the business as a bookstore, in 1981 owner Charles Negaro was determined to have a cafe like those he has visited in Europe. And presto… here they are decades later combining nourishment for both mind and body.
They pride themselves on quality. Quality of the books and merchandise chosen to offer for purchase, quality of the meals served in their cafe, quality of the staff that connects with their customers. They spend their workdays, and sometimes their personal time, thinking about and discussing what they can present to those who choose to walk through their doors again and again.
