Those in the food industry know when a restaurant is on the Michelin Guide radar, all eyes, ears, and palates are on full alert. That may never change. But in the world of Italian food specifically, Gambero Rosso carries the compass. And in that arena, their stamp of approval holds as much weight, if not more.
In 2023, the authority on Italian food awarded Strega its second distinction. For Michelin, it is stars; for Gambero Rosso, it is forks. For the second time the restaurant and its chef/owner Danilo Mongillo was honored with two forks—out of a possible three—in its 2023 Top Italian Restaurants division for producing authentic cuisine, one of the only in the Northeast to garner such attention from the esteemed organization.
