SWEETGREEN SELECTS DOWNTOWN NEW HAVEN FOR ITS FIFTH CONNECTICUT LOCATION.
New Haven, CT – Yale University Properties is excited to announce that Sweetgreen will open in the Broadway District. The mission-driven restaurant brand connecting people to real food has signed a long-term lease for 1 Broadway, a prime 2,692-square-foot space that serves as the gateway to the vibrant Broadway District, making it one of the most visible locations in Yale University Properties’ portfolio.
Sweetgreen is scheduled to open in New Haven in 2025, offering its menu of salads, warm bowls, protein plates and sides to students, residents, and visitors. This follows the opening of Connecticut Sweetgreen locations in Greenwich in 2021, Darien in 2023, and Westport earlier this year. Sweetgreen’s Farmington Valley restaurant is also slated to open in 2025.
The addition of Sweetgreen was driven by strong community demand. During every event or giveaway hosted by The Shops at Yale, the marketing team gathers feedback from participants on which retailers and restaurants they would like to see in the area. Sweetgreen consistently ranks at the top of the list, reflecting the local desire for additional fresh, healthy, and fast-casual dining options.

Sweetgreen’s entrance into our city is yet another indicator that the New Haven retail market is strong and attractive to chains and independent operators alike.”
